AWS Web services was formed in 2003, initially to provide a service to the sports community i.e small amateur clubs.These clubs would benefit from having a website by allowing all members to have access to a central location, where up to date club information could be seen. Examples of this would be recent results, forthcoming fixtures and club announcements.

During development work on sites, it quickly became apparent that the same philosophy could be applied to smaller businesses. This state of affairs would undoubtedly lead to a "virtual monopoly" by the more exclusive design houses thereby keeping prices artificially high and providing a barrier to enabling the smaller business to begin competing on a more equal footing.
The philosophy of AWS Web Services is to turn this misconception about web services on its head and provide a one stop simple to understand solution that will enable the smaller business to have the same on line facilities as their larger counterparts. There is no need for an IT department to provide advice on what is technically the best solution, perhaps costing more than is necessarily required to provide the best business solution.
