Page 1 of 2 ![]() One of the biggest problems people face when they have a website is the updating of content. This is particularly true of sites which require a lot of maintenance such as sports clubs, where the results would need to be uploaded on a weekly basis. Using a traditional HTML editor such as Dreamweaver, Front Page or even Notepad to make the required changes to individual pages, then upload them to the host server can be very time consuming and would generally need to be done on the PC which has the relevant software. This obviously limits who can make the required changes and where they can be made from. A CMS (Content Management System) stores all of the site content in a database which can be accessed remotely from any PC with internet access - this data (content) can be added to, edited or deleted in a much simpler way. Additionally, the CMS can be used to upload media to the server such as images, movies, audio etc - these can then easily be added to the content wherever they are required. The CMS can also be configured with multiple user access at different levels so more than one person is able to make changes to the content. The security levels can be set on a per user basis, so that individuals can only access the data that they have the correct privileges to access. The CMS chosen for use by AWS Services is Joomla! - an award-winning Content Management System that helps build websites and other powerful online applications.
